It is no secret that I adore the Lake District, and I think any Photographer - dog photography or otherwise, would find things to respect too. There are so many opportunities as a dog photographer in the lakes, the mountains and hills, the lakes, the forests and woodlands, and so so much more. This blog contains just a fraction of what I hope to uncover in the coming years. But from one moment, you can get serene clear lakes, to the most beautiful sunset reflections, to stormy moods.
Buttermere
I have absolutely no words for these pictures from Buttermere, but now, after visiting, I have such a strong desire to go back. At sunrise, on a clear day. To shoot in the woodlands that join to the beaches, I can just picture those shots already.
But, it doesn't take away from the misty, serene mood that these give. And wow, just how Fume pops in it.
Fleetwith Pike
This is one if you don't mind a bit of a hike beforehand, so definitely do your research there. Already fairly popular, but for good reasons.
I chose this to go directly after Buttermere for the simple reason that I think it's SO cool (I don't even care how lame this sounds) to have pictures from Buttermere looking back towards Fleetwith Pike, and from Fleetwith Pike looking down over Buttermere. So, so cool.
Again, definitely one I'd love to go back for, for an actual sunset, of course.
Raven Crag
Another popular location, but this one takes a bit of work getting to. Be prepared for not only the most insane climb of your life, but the decent being 10x worse. Take walking poles, for the love of dogs.
Derwent Water
Relatively quiet, we had great fun here. I love the blues and greens. A nice one like a lot of lakes you can pretty much park and access the lake straight away.
Bassenthwaite Lake
I don't know that this lake has been mentioned much, if at all, across photography channels. But it's a stunning place that created these stormy, fiery shots one evening. It's definitely worth keeping in mind.
